JUVÉDERM and Restylane® Facial Fillers
As we age it is normal to experience a loss elasticity and volume in our facial tissue. As skin becomes lenient, creases and facial lines begin to appear. The fatty deposits under eyes and along the cheeks start dissipating, giving a hollow appearance. These changes can give appearance of fatigue. Smoking, Sun damage, weight loss, and genetics can increase these issues.
Juvederm and Restylane® facial fillers were designed to treat the facial folds and loss of volume that occurs naturally with age. The Hyaluronic Acid in both fillers is injected to plump tissue by binding with the body's existing collagen stores, returning volume and symmetry to the face. Treatment can last up to a year.

Treatment
Minimal discomfort. Our physician will assess your problem areas to help determine which filler is appropriate to address your cosmetic concerns.
Topical numbing agents can be applied to relief discomfort. Most clients notice a mild pinch or burning sensation curing application that generally dissipates within seconds. Some patients notice swelling after the procedure, this is normal and can last from 24-48 hours. You can apply an ice pack to prevent bruising and reduce swelling.

Before Treatment
- If possible, avoid the following blood thinning agents for 2 weeks before treatment: Advil, ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, Aspirin, vitamin E, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, ginkgo biloba, Omega 3, and fish oil. Avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
- If possible, come your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup and oils.
- It can take 2 weeks for bruising and swelling to reduce, schedule your appointment accordingly.
Post-care instructions
- You should remain upright for 4 hours after treatment. Lying horizontal or on your face could move the relaxant away from the intended area.
- You should not massage or conduct a facial on the treated area for 4 hours, as the relaxant can move outside of the intended treatment area.
- No exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
- Avoid ibuprofen and aspirin for 24 hours. You may take Tylenol for pain or a headache.
- To reduce swelling, sleep with your face elevated the first night.
Call your doctor if
- Develop signs of infection such as redness, treatment area is warm to the touch, drainage in treatment area, or pain.
- If you develop substantial pain, prolonged white or pale color in the treatment area, or coolness to the skin area with a unusual purple skin color (not the color associated with bruising).
- If you notice large pink or red nodules/bumps in the treatment areas.
- If you experience vision changes or other changes in your health, notify our office.
