Defeat Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes occurs at every age, every race, and of every shape and size!
With type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and living a healthy lifestyle everyone can learn to manage type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes! This is when your body doesn’t use insulin properly. Some people can control their blood sugar levels with healthy eating and exercise, but others may need medication or insulin to help manage it.
A key part of managing diabetes is maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, limiting alcohol intake and stop smoking!
If you’re overweight, it not only can lead to diabetes but also unhealthy cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, high blood sugar, and stroke.
If you want to get your diabetes under control, or think you may have diabetes, see your primary care physician today to be screened!
If you do have diabetes you should be seeing your primary physician every three months
