Diabetes 

Type 1 diabetes occurs at every age, in those of every race, and of every shape and size. With the help of insulin therapy and living a healthy lifestyle anyone can learn to manage type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Some people can control their blood sugar levels with healthy eating and exercise, but others may need medication or insulin to help manage it.
A key part of managing diabetes is maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, limiting alcohol intake and STOP SMOKING!
Being overweight, can lead to diabetes, unhealthy cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, high blood sugar & stroke. 
If you do have diabetes, you should be seeing your primary physician every three months!!
Blindness From Diabetes

Diabetic retinopathy is the MOST COMMON diabetic eye disease and a leading cause of blindness. 
Initially, DR may cause no symptoms, but as the condition progresses, symptoms may include spots floating in your vision, blurred vision, impaired color vision, dark areas in your vision and/or partial or complete vision loss. 

This condition can develop in anyone who has type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Who is taking care of the caregiver? 
Being a caregiver can take an extreme toll on your mental and physical well-being. Most caregivers have full time jobs, while also having to take care of their loved one as well as their own families. If you are a caregiver, be sure you are taking care of yourself. This could be getting some alone time, exercising regularly, meditating and/or HIRING SOME HELP! Do not allow your own mental and physical health to decline! 
Be sure you are visiting your PCP at a minimum of once a year for your yearly wellness exam. 

Lung Cancer Kills

​Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer & the leading cause of cancer deaths.

Non-small cell lung cancer accounts for 80-90 percent of all lung cancers. 
Small cell lung cancer is 10 to 20% of lung cancer is most commonly associated with tobacco smoking.
When symptoms appear, they can easily be mistaken for bronchitis or pneumonia. 
Early-stage symptoms include cough, shortness of breath and fatigue. As the disease progresses, symptoms may include, chronic cough, spitting up blood, pain in the chest/back and hoarseness or wheezing.

Keep Your Skin Healthy
Ways to keep your skin healthy include wearing sunscreen DAILY & applying regularly, drinking plenty of water, cover up with clothing, a hat & sunglasses and avoid tanning beds!
